Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. We’re living in tumultuous times lately, so it’s no wonder that throwbacks and anniversary tours – things that remind us of the way things used to be – are so common. Earlier this year, we heard British singer Anne-Marie on Marshmello‘s track “Friends” and in April, she released her debut album Speak Your Mind.

Now, Anne-Marie has released a music video for the song “2002”, and it’s about as nostalgic as it gets. “2002” sees her reminiscing on young love: in the summer of 2002 she and the object of her affection “were only eleven / But acting like grown-ups.” The video shows a young Anne-Marie falling in love and growing up through the process; it also contains nods to some of the iconic late 1990s / early 2000s videos referenced in the song: Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time”, *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye”, and Nelly’s “Ride Wit Me.” Watch the video above, but be warned: it just might take you back in time.

Still haven’t gotten enough of the nostalgia? Watch the original videos for “…Baby One More Time”, “Bye Bye Bye” and “Ride With Me” below.

Anne-Marie will be supporting Ed Sheeran and Jamie Lawson in Galway, Ireland on May 12 and 13, and supporting Ed Sheeran in Amsterdam on June 28 and 29. She’ll also be performing at Rock Werchter 2018 in Werchter, Belgium in July. Head to her website for more information on all upcoming shows.
