Today, it has been announced that Sydney Sprague has signed Rude Records and has shared her new single, “i refuse to die.” The 28-year-old carries that same fire and creativity of her 90’s pop idols, while being combined with her familiar hooks and hard-hitting, topical lyrics.
“I’m so grateful that I get to continue to do what I love thanks to Rude,” says Sydney on her signing. “To have the support of this team, especially during this odd time, is a literal dream come true. I can’t wait to show you what we’ve got planned.”
The new single “i refuse to die” is out now and can be streamed below.
While the song was written before the ongoing nightmare of 2020, Sprague could feel the negative energy looming and this song was written out of that feeling. For them, the previous year felt too good to be true and the suspicion and paranoia of the onslaught that something terrible was coming and bound to happen. “This song is a desperate wish for good luck,” explains Sprague. “but looking around at the world it feels like it didn’t work.”
The next single from Sprague will be titled “steve” and is expected to be released soon. You can pre-save or pre-add the single here.
