Michigan-based alt-pop act Last Night Saved My Life, are getting ready to release their forthcoming album, Cherry, in a few weeks, but before they do that, they’ve teamed up with Substream to give fans another small taste of the LP.

Today, the group are sharing their latest single, an introspective pop-rock anthem called “Undone.”

The track highlights the band’s softer side with its poignant lyrics and enticing slowed-down opening, but don’t let that fool you. Sprinkled into the slow and dreamy is the upbeat and melodic sound that the group have become known for with their past releases.

To give a little more insight into the meaning of the song, Last Night Saved My Life’s vocalist Wilson Shaner shared:

“We wanted to make a song that would be a little different for us; a pop sound with the piano and vocal choruses, but still with some guitar focus. It really took a bunch of cool turns along the way while we were demoing the song out at my house before we went to the studio. ‘Undone’ is really about being in a place where you are half-ready to move on in life, but also partially stuck.”

He continued on by saying:

“It’s about desperately wanting to take a step forward, but not quite being able to move on from your current lifestyle, job, relationship, or whatever. So you’re half in, half out which is a terrible place to be. But the music video kinda shows that the ending is hopeful.”
