Lauv doesn’t want to be “sad forever” on new single

Following the announcement of his debut album ~how i’m feeling~ with “Drugs and the Internet”, Lauv is back with another new single. This one’s called “sad forever”, and it sees him hesitant to ask for help but ultimately coming to terms with not wanting to be sad anymore.

Lauv - sad forever

“Sad Forever” was inspired by Lauv’s mental health struggles with depression and OCD. He says about the song,

“I wrote sad forever at a time when I was extremely low. I was dealing with depression and OCD but hadn’t really recognized or gotten the help I needed. While I was hesitant at first, asking for help was an important first step. Mental illness is something that is often times not apparent to the outside world. It’s an ongoing journey with ups and downs and finding stability is a process that I’m still heavily working on. This song was written in a dark place but by donating all proceeds to mental health organizations I can only hope it helps others take their first step to ask for help too.”

The video for “Sad Forever”, which can be seen at the top of this post, was shot live at Lauv’s show in Manila, which was his largest headlining show to date. All proceeds from the track will be donated to mental health organizations around the world (Bring Change 2 Mind in North America, Time to Change in UK, beyondblue in Australia and New Zealand, Hjärnkoll in Sweden, EN AF OS in Denmark, and Samen Sterk Zonder Stigma in Netherlands); you can buy/stream “Sad Forever” here.

This fall, Lauv will hit the road supported by bülow, Chelsea Cutler, and Carlie Hanson on select dates for the ~how i’m feeling~ (autumn tour, 2019). The tour will take him all around the US, as well as hitting the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Visit www.LauvSongs.com for dates and tickets.
