Earlier this month, everyone’s favorite blue-haired popstar Lauv announced the dates for his How I’m Feeling Tour; now, he’s released the first song from his upcoming album of the same name. The track is called “Drugs & The Internet”, and you can check out the video above. Although the video is a candy-colored pink-and-blue, the song comes from a place of loneliness – Lauv steps into the internet, but this ain’t no paradise.

Lauv says about “Drugs & The Internet”,

“I wrote ‘Drugs & The Internet’ at a time I was struggling with feelings of extreme emptiness and depression. I wrote it as a sort of self-analysis for my obsession with the way I wanted present myself to the world — a commentary on the world we live today. It is as much self-deprecating as it is serious and sad. It flew out of me in an hour. It felt more therapeutic than any song I’d written before. As the first song off of my album ~how i’m feeling~, it is the perfect entrance into the next phase of my life and music. I am more proud of this song and video than anything i have ever created in my life, and I’m so excited that it’s yours now.”

~how i’m feeling~ is Lauv’s first official album, although he completed the I met you when I was 18. playlist in 2018. In an Instagram post earlier this month, Lauv explained the origins of the album title: after a mental health battle with anxiety and depression, he’s now learned how to take care of himself, and is eager to share the next step on his journey with his fans.
