Mark today on your calendars because Katy Perry has finally dropped her first solo song since 2017!
The singer teased the track earlier this week via social media, which sent fans into a bit of a tailspin of emotions. Luckily, she didn’t make us wait too long from the initial announcement, and earlier today, Perry dropped the upbeat track, “Never Really Over.”
The song, which details relationships through all of its stages, was co-written and produced by Zedd (among others), whom Perry worked with earlier this year on their lively electro-pop song, “365.”
Discussing the meaning behind the pensive new single, Perry shared in a press release:
“All of our relationships – from first love, through failed love, to great love – all become a part of you, so that none are ever really over, and once you accept both the dark and the light, you may find that the darkness brought you to the light.”
In addition to dropping the new track, Perry also released a stunning new music video to accompany it. You can watch the video for Katy Perry’s new song “Never Really Over’ below!
“Never Really Over” is now available to purchase and stream on all major music services. You can get your copy of the single here!
