Singer-songwriter Vérité has returned with her first single in almost two years, and we’re obsessed!

The track, which was co-written and produced by Madi Diaz and Konrad Snyder, is our first taste of new music since the release of her 2017 album Somewhere In Between. And, judging from this brand new release, it was well worth the wait.

Dropped earlier today, the singer unveiled “Gone,” a somber and reflective ballad that paints a picture of the awful and often heartbreaking feeling of something coming to an end.

Of the new song, Vérité shared in a press release:

“Gone is about the moment before an inevitable shift. It’s the feeling of sitting still, taking in your surroundings, and burying yourself in a final scene. It’s about accepting an action as simple as getting dressed can delineate an end.”
She continues on by saying:
“It’s about leaving something/someone you’ve known behind and how the massive swell of frenetic potential energy that is all-encompassing in that moment becomes a tiny blip in retrospect. It’s about being done and moving on. The sentiment is simple, the reality–overwhelming.”
According to the release, “Gone” is our first taste of what’s to come from the singer, who is currently working on her sophomore album, which is set to tackle similar themes to this new single, but in more depth.
