It’s been over a year since Skott entered the musical world, and she has yet to release a song that isn’t phenomenal. Two singles–”Glitter & Gloss” and “Mermaid”–have already dominated 2017. Skott’s not slowing down at all, and this time we only had to wait a little over a month between releases. Today she shared her new single “Remain,” which first premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show.

For “Remain,” Skott plunges into the stylistic use of Autotune. Over a deep, foreboding beat, the singer’s voice contains that familiar drone underneath it. The effect is at the perfect level to provide texture to the song while not hiding Skott’s considerable vocal gifts. As the song reaches its peak it begins to lighten a bit, using more of the synths that have come to define the Scandinavian star’s music.

“Remain” is streaming now on Spotify below. As always, be sure to check out the artwork for the single while you listen.
