Pop music is no stranger to young musicians taking the stage, and with its latest generation, artists still in their teen years are ready to do something with substance. There’s the big names like Demi Lovato (who asked, “What’s wrong with being confident?”) but there’s also a whole new crop of young, aspiring pop singers ready to make music that’s empowering and about having a good time. Maggie Lindemann is one of those artists.
At last weekend’s Billboard Hot 100 Festival, the 18 year old Texas native and current Los Angeles resident took to the Sun Stage. She was the first to perform and with only four singles of her own released so far, her set also included some covers. After opening with “Couple Of Kids” she debuted a brand new cover: Rihanna’s hit “Desperado.”
Maggie Lindemann’s most well-known track is her song “Pretty Girl”, a song where she reminds listeners that she’s more than her appearance or social media following: “There’s more to me than people know”, she sings. The original version of the song has more than 18 million streams on Spotify, while the Cheat Codes X CADE remix has more than 246 million streams. For an artist who has yet to release an EP, these numbers are rather impressive. Though her set was the first of the day on the Sun Stage, the crowd certainly showed up for her performance, enjoying every minute of it.
Maggie Lindemann does not currently have any more shows announced, but be sure to check her website to see what she’s up to next.
