The search for “the one” can be tough. Insomuch that any one particular person is perfectly suited for us, the dating scene when you want to get serious can still be challenging. There are so many people out there it can feel like a daunting task to find someone. Often we find those people while we search for our own way in our everyday lives, not through a pointed search for love. Kat Holland expressed her feelings for her one true person in her January single “The One,” taken from her upcoming EP Retrovision. Today, she shows us the search in the music video for “The One.”

The bulk of the music video for “The One” features a lot of walking. Holland walks towards the camera and sings as she goes about her life in the city. She also appears in front of space-inspired backgrounds to match the ethereal quality of the track. As in life, the music video finds Holland making a connection at a time when she least expects it. It’s a simple concept that works well with the clarity of her feelings on the track and is executed perfectly.

“The One” and Retrovision come from a personal journey in Holland’s life. She says “I went through a period in my life right after I graduated from college that was a rather stark but awakening experience for me. I was forced to spend a lot of time alone and away from people I loved, the people who I was closest to in my life. It was one of the hardest and most life changing experiences that I have ever had to go through.”
