Ohio’s very own Inkcarceration Music and Tattoo Festival is back for 2019. Following a successful inaugural event last year that featured Rise Against, A Day to Remember, Bush, Black Label Society, and many more, Inkcarceration has delivered an even bigger lineup this year with the headliners being Shinedown, Godsmack, and Five Finger Death Punch.
The three day event will take place the weekend of July 12th-14th and once again will be at the historic Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio, which was famously the filming location for the 1994 film, The Shawshank Redemption.
This year’s Inkcarceration lineup will also include Live, Taking Back Sunday, Seether, Skillet, I Prevail, Motionless In White, Buckcherry, Starset, and many more. The festival will have two stages set up within the reformatory grounds, with set times expected to be announced closer to the festival.
As the title states, however, Inkcarceration is more than just a music festival. The Tattoo Festival portion of the event will again host well over 70 booths that features local and regional tattoo artists. More information on the participating artists is expected to be coming soon.
Inkcarceration usic and Tattoo Festival promoters state, “Building off such a strong inaugural year, we are so stoked to give our fans even more in year two. With Billboard chart-topping bands such as Shinedown, Godsmack and Five Finger Death Punch leading the way, tattoo artists from around the globe, and the historic backdrop of the haunted Shawshank Prison, Inkcarceration 2019 will be the don’t miss rock event of the summer in the Midwest!”
Given that the event takes place at the historic Ohio State Reformatory, there will be of course activities revolving around this. There will be self guided tours of the reformatory, and there will even be a special haunted house experience: Escape From Blood Prison. Though this attraction is typically held annually at the Ohio State Reformatory from September through early-November, it will be open all weekend long for festival attendees.
“It’s an honor to be able to open the doors of Blood Prison a couple months early and give the guests of Inkcarceration a few scares in July! The warden, his family and the Blood Prison inmates are all excited to meet the fans at Inkcarceration ,” says Vic Amesquita, manager of Blood Prison.
