Following the success of her love & limerence EP, acclaimed singer/songwriter Olivia O’Brien has returned with a new summer single, “out of your league  (but i want u so bad).”

The single is out now via girlhood records and ADA, and continues to showcase O’Brien’s knack for capturing relatable, real-life experiences with her signature blend of vulnerability and catchy melodies.

In fact, “out of your league (but I want u so bad)” delves into the universal experience of having an inexplicable crush on someone who, by all rational measures, doesn’t seem to deserve it. “I think nearly everyone, at one low point or another, has had an inexplicable crush on someone. A crush that nobody else seems to understand, ” O’Brien shares. “A crush on someone who appears to have absolutely zero redeeming qualities. Your friends hate them, they treat you poorly, they probably don’t even like you back at all, and they aren’t even conventionally attractive, either… but there’s just something that keeps drawing you back in. Sometimes the only thing you can do in this situation is have the self-awareness to make a fun song about it so that you can look back and laugh when you finally come to your senses.”

This new single takes a lighter approach to romance compared to the deeply reflective tracks from “love & limerence,” making it feel perfect for easy listening. “out of your league (but I want u so bad)” combines the signature introspective lyrics of O’Brien with an infectious, lively sound that captures the carefree essence of summer.
