Today, it has been announced that multi-platinum singer/songwriters Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan have teamed up for a special 7” release where they each cover one of the other’s songs, in honor of Record Store Day 2024.
Since covering “Stick Season” back in October on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, fans have been clamoring for a Rodrigo and Kahan collaboration. Kahan did wind up eventually covering “Lacy” on the same Live Lounge program a few months later, and now we have an official release for both covers to exist on vinyl for the first time.
While it may not be the collaboration fans were thinking of in their hand — and maybe that comes later down the line — the aptly titled Olivia Rodrigo “Stick Season”/Noah Kahan “Lacy” – FROM THE BBC RADIO 1 LIVE LOUNGE will be released on April 20th via Geffen/Mercury/Republic.
The 7-inch colored vinyl features three-time GRAMMY Award winner Rodrigo covering Kahan’s breakout hit “Stick Season” on Side A and GRAMMY AwardBest New Artist nominee Kahan delivering a stunning rendition of “Lacy” from Rodrigo’s chart-topping sophomore album, GUTS, on Side B. “Stick Season,” the lead single from Kahan’s 2022 album of the same name, has been certified 2x Platinum in the U.S. “Lacy” was notably named as one of the best songs on GUTS by fans and critics alike.
