Some bands find their beginnings in a recording studio. Others start with a little ambition, a few songs, and a desire to connect with people through music. For Denver, Colorado’s Relate., it was a little of both.

Originally launched in 2021 as an acoustic solo project by vocalist Duncan Slack during the COVID-19 pandemic, Relate. quickly evolved into a full band. Joined by guitarists Thomas Dalton and Zachery Fitzgerald, drummer Diego Valenzuela, and later bassist Emilio Lujan, the group began building its identity through local performances, DIY recordings, and relentless regional touring.

Their 2023 debut EP, Chemical Condition, introduced listeners to their blend of melodic pop-punk, emo, and alternative rock. Follow-up singles, including “Linger” and “Sludge,” continued to establish their sound, while their 2025 EP, Have I Ever Done Anything?, marked another important step forward. Recorded with producer Jay Maas, the release showcased a more developed and confident version of the band.

Now, Relate. is entering an exciting new chapter. In February 2026, the band signed with MNRK Heavy, bringing their independently built momentum to a larger music-industry platform. With a growing catalog, extensive touring experience, and new music in development, Relate. is a band worth keeping on your radar.

If you like blink-182, My Chemical Romance, Transit, and melodic alternative rock with a heavier post-hardcore edge, you’ll want to give Relate. a listen.

Sometimes the best discoveries are the bands you haven’t heard yet. Relate. might be one of them.
