Colleen D’Agostino first rose to prominence in the alternative scene as the soulful and raspy vocalist of the Los Angeles-based rock band The Material. The band themselves have been relatively quiet (outside of a new EP last year), but Colleen has been quite busy all the same.

She’s a Grammy-nominated recording artist, who became a solo artist and singd to deadmau5 record label, mau5trap. This lead to a few collaborations between Colleen and deadmau5, most notably the platinum-certified single, “Seeya.”

With an extensive history now in rock and electronic music, Colleen is ready to take her solo project to the next level. She’s been working with Eekkoo, who’s a fellow mau5trap alumni on a new EP, Sleepwalk, which is expected to be released soon. However, Substream is thrilled to be giving fans a little tate of what’s to come, and you can hear our exclusive premiere of “Somewhere In Between” below.

“I wrote ‘Somewhere in Between’ after the birth of my son, Maddox. I had been working with my friend and fellow mau5trap alumni EEKKOO on a few songs, and when he sent this instrumental, I was immediately drawn to the mood of the track,” Colleen tells Substream. “I was in sort of a sleepless haze at the time, which is where the line ‘Somewhere in between awake and dreaming, I’ll be up waiting for you’ comes from. Lots of crazy late nights and quiet early mornings inspired me to write a song that would reflect how I feel in this new role. It’s a song that captures the intense love I am feeling at this new chapter in my life, and the lyrics are a personal love letter to my son that I chose to share with the world.
