Maybe you’re more familiar with Kurt Travis due to his time in Dance Gavin Dance, or even his time with A Lot Like Birds. But if you didn’t know, Travis has been keeping up and making music for years on his own — and it’s time to get familiar with it.

Kurt Travis released his debut solo record, Everything Is Beautiful, back in 2014 after two successful EP’s released via Equal Vision Records. Things since then have been revolving around a lot of teasing for new music. Back in 2016, there were some hints of new music on the way, but nothing formally announced or planned.

However, that changes this Friday, May 17th, when Kurt Travis is releasing his new album, There’s a Place I Want to Take You via Blue Swan Records/Esque Records.

While it’s only a few days away, Substream is excited to be exclusively teaming up with Kurt Travis to give you an advance stream of the record. It’s a record that is a shining example of how talented Travis is, and how he’s able to utilitize that in a way that’s captivating and enticing. Upon first listen, you’ll immediately want to re-listen and dive back in again — and you should.

On the new record, Travis tells Substream, “This album took 5 years to complete. For many, many reasons. Not all of them positive reasons. A lot of negative obstacles had to be overcome, but here we are. It’s finally here.
