Kyle McKearney uses KROWNS as a way to share stories and experiences about his life growing up; the struggles he went through with growing up in a broken home and feeling like he had to pretend everything was all fine, when in reality it wasn’t.
Ultimately, Kyle began writing and started working on material with Grammy Award-Winning producer Stephen Kozmeniuk (Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar) to create material for KROWNS — which also features Adam Casey and Shade McKearney — leading to an EP’s worth of material. The debut single from the EP, “High While the World Ends” was released earlier this year.
Today, we have the sophomore single, “Fake It” and it serves as the perfect way to follow-up the first single. Lyrically, it is the epitome of what Kyle McKearney wants KROWNS wants to be, as it touches on themes of desperation and societal oppression. If artists using honesty to create inspirational music is what you are looking for, look no further than “Fake It.”
You can find our stream of “Fake It” at the top of this post, and listen for yourself to hear the way that KROWNS blends electronic rock with their powerful lyrical themes and a strong vocal performance from Kyle McKearney. He explains himself, on where the track came from: “I went home one night and started writing stories from my teen years. We literally pulled the title and entire body of the song lyrically and conceptually from one of the truths. ‘Fake It’ is about the pressures of being a team in the wolf den and hiding to protect yourself.”
“Fake It” serves as the second single, and title-track off their upcoming EP — which is expected to drop in January 2019. Additionally, you can also follow KROWNS on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with any and all updates.
