After spending the summer performing their debut album, Only Way to Be Alone, on their support tour for Anthony Green, Good Old War is back.
Good Old War will be releasing their new EP, Part of Us, on December 7th. It will serve as the final installment of their recent EP trilogy, following 2017’s Part of Me and 2018’s Part of You.
With that, we are very excited to be premiering the first single from Part of Us: “Misty-eyed.” The track — which can be found at the top of the post — showcases the signature folk-meets-country sound that Good Old War has been known for throughout their career. The painstakingly heartfelt lyrics are there, beautifully sung and even harmonized over an acoustic guitar picking masterfully, creating a soothing yet addicting atmosphere.
“This song is about being in a meaningful place from the past. The melody came to me one day when I was driving around the town I grew up in. I couldn’t put my finger on the feeling, it was neither nostalgia or deja vu. It’s a strange feeling when your memories of a place or event make you feel differently than when the event itself was taking place. I started singing whatever words came to mind right there in the car and by the time I got home the song was close to being done. It’s funny the way songs hit you sometimes. It’s like they just happen to you,” explains Good Old War’s Keith Goodwin.
Good Old War is also currently on tour with label-mates Beta Radio and Danny Black (Dan Schwartz from Good Old War’s side project). Below you will find all of those tour dates, as well a the details for their new EP, Part of Us.
