With her sophomore album, ‘Magic Gone’, set to be released June 15th – Kiley Lotz of Petal has released a music video for her second single, “Better Than You.” Serving as a visual representation of Lotz’s love-hate relationship with an industry that makes her question every little thing about herself as she feels like she has to constantly perform even when she feels empty inside. “Better Than You” encapsulates the constant dilemma that artists face in an industry that dehumanizes individuals and turns them into a character, Lotz captures this feeling of existentialist anxiety through catchy pop melodies and heightened forthright choruses like “Maybe if you tried harder to seem like you didn’t love it / But you do. But they’re better than you.”
