James Bay has released a new music video for his latest single, “Us.” It comes off of his upcoming sophomore album, Electric Light, which will be released on May 18th.
The music video, which you can watch above, is emotionally charged as it shows subjects facing depression and strife, providing a poetic, poignant, and raw video. Intercutting these shots, the camera focuses in on James Bay as he sings alone, sharing that same depressing feeling and is exemplified by his vulnerable vocal delivery.
The video brings to life a feeling of unity, and regarding the song, Bay says that “Touring my music means I’ve been lucky enough to meet people all over the world and witness the phenomenal strength of crowds. Gigs can be the greatest proof that positivity and strength comes from us all sticking together. I wrote this song to explore unity and inclusion. Looking through the lens of my own personal relationships, this song turned out to be a particularly important moment on the album for me.”
James Bay will be touring in support of Electric Light this summer. His touring will kick off on May 27th with some overseas shows, before making his return to North America starting September 13th and running through October 15th.
