Black Satellite cover Type O Negative’s “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend”

Black Satellite recently spent some time working on a duo of Type O Negative covers, and have now released their version of “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend.” The dark, intense video features drumming sensation Casey Cooper and can be seen at the top of the post.

On the track, vocalist Larissa Vale shares: “We wanted to honor the legacy of Type O Negative by paying tribute to Peter Steele on the anniversary of his death. It was important to us to maintain the essence of the original song but also make sure is sounded uniquely our own. Our hope is that our cover offers other Type O fans like us an opportunity to come together in remembering Peter.”

This cover – along with Black Satellite’s cover of “I Don’t Wanna Be Me” – will be released to streaming services this Saturday, April 14th, which is the anniversary of Type O Negative’s founding member Peter Steele’s death.

It is also the first new music from Black Satellite since their 2017 debut album, Endless. Endless was mastered by Ted Jensen (Muse, Marilyn Manson, Deftones) and established the band as a distinctly unique group, but also let their main influences like Alice In Chains and Gojira to flow through.

The band dove a little more into these two covers with Billboard, which you can check out here. In the interview, Black Satellite revealed that they are hoping to get out on the road and perform some shows later this year. In addition, they have even started writing for the official full-length follow-up to 2017’s Endless.
