For the better part of the past two decades, Dashboard Confessional have provided the soundtrack to young adults in need of songs that understood their often turbulent emotions. Their latest album (and first since 2009’s Alter The EndingCrooked Shadows (out now on Fueled by Ramen) sees Chris Carrabba leading the charge and reminding listeners that no matter what they’re going through, they’re not alone in their feelings. Since forming in 2013, Beach Slang have created their own way of connecting with teenagers who feel out of place in the world. It was a hardly a surprise, then, to hear that Beach Slang would be supporting Dashboard Confessional on the We Fight Tour this spring. Earlier this week, it was announced that Kississippi would also be joining the US dates and if their latest song “Cut Yr Teeth” is any clue, we have a feeling they’ll soon find a place in the hearts of many. In the words of Beach Slang, it’s a barrage of hearts-on-sleeves.

In case you’re not already familiar with Kississippi, here’s what you need to know. Driven by Philadelphia native Zoe Reynolds, they’re an indie-pop act whose songs will move you and (just maybe) break your heart (in a good way). The current live lineup included Adam DaSilva, Jeremy Probst, Allegra Eidinger, and Kaylen Alan Krebsbach. Towards the end of 2018, Kississippi was announced as the newest member of the SideOneDummy Records family, and in mid-December, Substream Web Content Editor James Shotwell sang the praises of  “Cut Yr Teeth”, declaring it “proof that there is good in this world and hope for a better tomorrow.”

It’s going to be a busy spring for Kississippi: before the Dashboard Confessional tour begins, they’ll be hitting the road towards South by Southwest with Heart Attack Man. They’re expected to release their debut album Sunset Blush this year, though a release date has not been announced yet. Follow Substream on Twitter for all updates, and in the meantime, listen to “Cut Yr Teeth” and their 2015 EP We Have No FutureWe’re All Doomed at the bottom of this post.
