Ever since she first released “Porcelain” in June 2016, we’ve known that Skott was destined for greatness. Many songs and videos later, she’s surprised fans once again. With the release of a new EP, Stay Off My Mind, Skott has shared not one, but four new songs with the world.
The EP shares a name with the lead single. “Stay Off My Mind” begins with a stirring rift and features a hook that showcases every bit of Skott’s vocal range. Sonically, it’s one of the singer’s most uplifting tracks, all major keys and a quick tempo.
Lyrically, it tells a different story. In a press release, Skott explained “Ultimately it’s a song about missing someone so much that you’re almost living more in the past than in the present. We can have such fond memories, but life goes on and sometimes having flashbacks can keep you from moving on.”
