Iron Chic has given another preview to their fans for their highly anticipated album, You Can’t Stay Here, with their recent single, “Planes, Chest Pains And Automobiles”. Released on NPR, the new single highlights Iron Chic’s continued focus on pulling through life knowing they have each other.
“Planes, Chest Pains and Automobiles” features existential themes such as anxiety, death, and mortality with camaraderie that brings a sense of togetherness for both the band and fans that have made a second home within Iron Chic. With the recent death of guitarist Rob Mcallister, who suddenly passed at age 36, the band has had an extremely tough year and this has played a major influence in their album as it serves as sort of a coping mechanism for the members. On top of this, Mcallister had written a few of the songs within the album adding to the absence that the band has felt this year. The band’s grief is shown throughout the album with a further focus on not knowing the answers to life with lyrics such as, “But here we are, left with the pain of the world and our wavering ability to cope with it”, which sends out the message that they may not have answers to life, but they do have each other and together they can create music that helps them get through their personal struggles.
