At the beginning of August Jordan Rakei announced that his new album Wallflower would be out on September 22. To go with this news he shared “Nerve,” a sonically rich song about learning to love yourself before giving your love to the world. Today Rakei has delivered two new versions of the song with the release of the Nerve EP.

The first new version is an acoustic rendition of the track. The track does a great job of still keeping the musical layers of the original while still serving as a stripped-down track that can stand on its own. This version lets a little bit of sadness creep into the song, indicating that the journey to self-love can be full of roadblocks and setbacks.

The second version is a remix by the excellently named British producer Ross From Friends. Ross pitches Rakei’s voice higher while introducing synthetic elements that groove and bounce. It sound like a weird ’90s rave in the best way possible. Interestingly, this version is the sparsest of the three, although that by no means holds it back.

Like Wallflower, the Nerve EP is being released through Ninja Tune. We’ve included the Soundcloud stream of the EP below, but you can download or stream it through your preferred digital platform here.
