There has been so much amazing music released in 2017 you may have forgotten that Sorority Noise released an incredible record this year as well. You’re Not As ____ As You Think You Are is a collection of emotionally-driven anthems for life and continued survival in a world that constantly makes you question yourself. Every song is someone’s favorite, and today “First Letter From St. Sean” became the latest to receive a proper video treatment.

Starring Sorority Noise frontman Cameron Boucher, the video for “First Letter From St. Sean” finds the bearded vocalist walking alone on an empty beach. As he makes his way toward the water Boucher passes a number of doors and mirrors that are never fully explained, but the meanings that can be inferred are quite powerful. The doors represent choices, but made and left unexplored, while the mirrors reflect how you remain the same person no matter what choices are made. Your perspective may change and your feelings may wane, but at the end of the day you’re still stuck inside this meat suit called a body with a limited amount of time to experience the world around you. What you do with your time is up to you, make sure you use wisely.

Speaking to Stereogum about the record earlier this year, Boucher commented:

“The third song [on the album], “First Letter From St. Sean” — there’s the middle part of the song that’s this major key thing, and I’m speaking from a third point of view, and it’s from what I imagined his perspective would have been. I think it’s the first time I ever did that in a song. I don’t know if it’s weird for how it came out, but it was a different thing to do, and I felt strongly about that.”
