We’ve been pretty hyped about War for the Planet of the Apes since trailers started dropping at the end of 2016. It recently made out list of the 45 movies you have to see this summer. Today 20th Century Fox released one final trailer for the film, and it might be the best yet.
The trailer shows much more interaction between the apes and humans. Some of that interaction is peaceful, as Caesar agrees to take in a human girl they find abandoned out on a patrol. A lot of the interaction is a lot less peaceful, as grenades, gunfire, and artillery let loose on both sides. Normally the “we didn’t start this, but we’ll end it” type of line is clichéd, but with the anticipation built up from the previous trailers and movies, it works here.
War for the Planet of the Apes will be released on July 14. Matt Reeves, who helmed Cloverfield and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, is on hand to direct.
