We are still a month away from the release of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and three months from the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, but that is not stopping Marvel from teasing their third MCU film of 2017. The first look at Thor: Ragnarok has appeared, and so far it looks to be the best tale of Asgard Kevin Feige‘s team has delivered to date.
Set for release on November 3, Thor: Ragnarok passes the directing reigns to MCU newcomer Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows, Hunt For The Wilderpeople) for a story that promises to help move the entire Marvel universe just a bit closer to Avengers: Infinity War. Thor must save Asgard once more, but this time he won’t have his legendary hammer at his side. He must also battle The Hulk, which the film’s first teaser deliciously reveals. Take a look:
The official plot synopsis for Thor: Ragnarok reads:
In Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!
The two previous Thor films have often been considered the most divisive titles in the modern Marvel catalog. Ragnarok appears to be taking more notes from James Gunn’s work with Guardians of the Galaxy than the two previous tales of Thor and Loki.
