Fresh off their first-ever number one single at Active Rock radio, acclaimed-rock band Daughtry have released a music video for their latest single, “Pieces,” which is out now via Big Machine Records.

“Pieces” was written shortly after Chris Daughtry unfortunately experiences the passing of both his mother and daughter in the same week, and the music video finds him drawing inspiration from one of his personal heroes, Bruce Lee. Lighting, ninjas, and even wolves appear in the video that spins a tale of universal hardships overcome by the inner strength we all have inside of us.

The hard-hitting single continues to usher in a fine-tuned and razor-sharp new era for the Daughtry, as they make a return to their hard rock roots, with “Pieces” leading the rollout for their forthcoming EP due out this fall.

I had such an amazing time shooting this video,” Daughtry admits. “I’ve always been a massive fan of martial arts films, and this was loosely inspired by Bruce Lee’s ‘Enter the Dragon.’ You can interpret it in many ways, I guess, but for me, it really says that no matter how much we try to run from or avoid the proverbial punches this world throws at us, we will always be faced with challenges and have to go through the darkness in order to get to the light.”
