As summer approaches, so does the need for music that can match the summer feel. Even though we are still pushing through uncertain times, warm weather still requires some summer-y tunes. Bands like Jukebox the Ghost, Walk the Moon, and American Authors have perfected this sound over the last few years, pumping out radio hits and summer playlist adds.
Now, Substream wants to introduce you to a name you may not know quite yet: TJ3X — the moniker of producer/songwriter TJ Courtney. He grew up idolizing grunge and 90’s alt-rock, while also later going on to appreciated songwriters like Ryan Tedder and Alex da Kid. This wide-ranging blend of influences is incredibly apparent in his collaborations under the TJ3X name; having previously worked as a producer/songwriter/engineer with Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction), Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy), Stefano Langone, Joe Cardigan, Hylynd, The End of America, LUNA AURA, Chloe Gendrow, Kingsley, and many more.
Now, TJ3X is stepping out into the limelight with his newest single, “Silver Ray,” which features former American Idol contestant Robbie Rosen. “Silver Ray” is worthy of a listen as we all start crafting our summer playlists, as it radiates sunshine-y goodness with it’s bright, vibrant, and catchy hook.
Substream is thrilled to be teaming up with TJ3X to exclusively premiere the new single for you today, to give you an early listen before it hits all streaming platforms tomorrow.
“’Silver Ray’ is about embracing who you are and whatever makes you happy, regardless of any outside forces that are trying to drag you down. It was a good distraction to work on something so uplifting during quarantine and with such a talented singer. Robbie’s vocals really made the track come to life,” Courtney explains.
