Everyone’s favorite bedroom-pop artist Clairo has shared another song, “Closer To You”. The stripped-down, sultry new electro-pop number is the second preview off of her debut album, Immunity, and captures another side of her lyrical prowess that this time sees her reflecting on a very troubled love. “Shut up / Don’t wanna hear “I know better” / Wish I could say it was enough / To make me walk away,” she sings. “‘Closer to You’ is one of the most important songs [Rostam] and i have made together— it’s extremely different than ‘bags’ but the story-telling and emotion is all the same,” the artist shares via Twitter. “Something i learned through this album process was how to translate what i’m saying into the actual production, how to make the instrumental/effects talk back to you – I think this song is a good example of that exploration & i hope you enjoy.”
Ahead of the release of Immunity, Clairo is also confirmed for a performance at Pitchfork Festival in Chicago on July 21. She’s is currently on a North American arena tour supporting Khalid, remaining dates for which you can find below. Tickets are here.
