Mt. Joy started off as a rekindling of shared musical aspirations between Philidelphia high school friends, Matt Quinn (vocals, guitar) and Sam Cooper (guitar). The two unexpectedly reunite in Los Angeles, that’s where they teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Michael Byrnes through a Craigslist ad. The trio named themselves Mt. Joy as an ode to a mountain in Valley Forge National Park near Sam’s childhood home.

They sent three songs out into the world and hoped for the best. Shortly after, the band became a full-time priority, adding Byrnes on as a permanent bassist, Sotiris Eliopoulos on drums and Jackie Miclau on keyboard.

In 2017, the band hit the road with The Shins, The Head and The Heart, The Lone Bellow, and Whitney; then performed at Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza and Made In America. The eventually grabbed the attention of Dualtone Records and began recording their first album.

The band has 2.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, two Top 5 Triple A radio singles, and four TV performances, they will begin their biggest headlining tour to date. On this tour, they will be previewing new music that is set to be released in 2020.
