Mark today on your calendars, because it appears as though The Head And The Heart are back, and they’re better than ever.

Earlier today, the band announced their plans to release their fourth studio album, Living Mirage, which is expected to get a summer-ready release on May 17 via Warner Bros. Records/Reprise Records.

The record marks the band’s first release since 2016’s Signs Of Light, and we seriously can’t wait to hear more!

According to a press release, bassist Chris Zasche describes the upcoming record as a “rebirth, a spirit quest of sorts,” which resulted from “growing pains” they had from their last album and the departure of the band’s former guitarist-vocalist, Josiah Johnson – who left shortly after the release of Signs Of Light.

Of the forthcoming album, the band’s singer and guitarist Jon Russell shared:

“In my mind, the songs on this album are vignettes,” Jon says. “Like ‘Brenda’ reminds me of when you’re a teenager at a house party. You’re surrounded by noise—‘What am I doing here?’—and a ray of light comes down and you notice this person. You’re like, ‘Maybe I will stay.’ These songs feel honest.”

In addition to the announcement of their forthcoming release, The Head And The Heart has given fans a taste of what to expect by dropping their new single “Missed Connection,” along with a lyric video (you can check that out below!)

Per the press release, the song first came as a homage to how Russell met his girlfriend; but it soon changed into something more when they realized it could be used as a metaphor for how the band first met (they met at an open-mic 10 years ago in Seattle, just so you know!)

Additionally, the band’s drummer, Tyler Williams, shared that the track is something different to their typical style, which could be in part due to their love of the production of pop and hip-hop songs.

In any case, we’re pretty excited about this new song! You can listen to “Missed Connection” below!
