We’ve got some excellent news: Bill and Ted are coming back!

After a few months of uncertainty, it appears that the long-awaited third installment of the Bill & Ted series has been officially approved!

The news came earlier today, where its stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter shared the exciting update in a new promotional video (that you can watch below.)

In the video, the duo thanked everyone for their continued support of the franchise, to which they then revealed that they “might,” “actually,” “hopefully,” make a movie.

As Winter and Reeves revealed, the forthcoming film is slated to be called Bill & Ted Face The Music and it will “hopefully” go into production sometime this summer.

What’s more? It will be getting a theatrical release on Aug. 21, 2020!!

Following the announcement, Orion Pictures, the film’s producers, shared a plot synopsis, which confirmed some plot details about our two favorite “middle-aged” dudes:

Following 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the stakes are higher than ever for William Bill S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore Ted Logan (Reeves).

Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.”
