Republic Records and Sony Pictures Entertainment have partnered together and announced that they will release the official soundtrack album for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. We now have our first taste of the soundtrack, with a collaboration between Post Malone and Swae Lee.

Both Post Malone and Swae Lee put out new records this year — beerbongs & bentleys and Swaecation, respectively — and only continue to get more and more popular. The two also had previously worked together on “Spoil My Night,” which appeared on beerbongs & bentleys. Their collaboration has been teased for a while, and you can finally hear “Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)” at the top of this post.

“Post and Swae have delivered a song that’s both heroic and emotional, which is exactly what a Spider-Man story needs.  It’s anthemic, but also heartfelt — the perfect soundtrack for Miles to discover the Spider-Man inside himself,” said Spring Aspers, Head of Music, Creative Affairs Worldwide for Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group.

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Republic Records are preparing to present a soundtrack that is a contemporary musical companion for the upcoming feature film; one that supports the multi-cultural protagonist of the film, Miles Morales. The animated music video shows Morales himself listening and singing along to Swae Lee and Post Malone’s “Sunflower,” and that was a big part of creating the soundtrack. The goal was to create a companion soundtrack that covers hip-hop, latin, and pop to portray what a teen like Morales would be listening to across the country.

The official soundtrack album for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will drop on December 14th this year, the same day that the film opens in theaters nationwide.
