Philadelphia-based punk workhorses The Menzingers have just released a new song called “The Freaks.” The single follows-up the previously released stand-alone single “Toy Soldiers,” which was the first taste of new music from the band since 2017’s masterful After the Party.

“The Freaks” was produced and mixed by Will Yip (Title Fight, Pianos Become the Teeth, Quicksand, more), and is a dreamy mid-tempo song that fans of the Menzingers will quickly realize as one that was established on After the Party. The track is full of the band’s melodies that sound bittersweet, while being driven vocally by singer/guitarist Tom May.

At the top of this post, you will find the Adam Peditto directed music video, which is set during a Halloween-themed freaks only party. Watch for yourself to see persons dressed up as bumblebees, aliens, devils, vampires, handmaids, and even wigged dogs play a Halloween tinged variation of spin-the-bottle, amongst other things, with shots of the band performing cut between.

The Menzingers is also headed out on a headlining tour this fall, including an appearance at The Fest in Gainesville this Friday, October 26th. The tour will feature Tiny Moving Parts and Daddy Issues as support.
