Following it’s release earlier in the week, James Bay has now released a live music video for his latest single, “Slide.” It’s the latest song released from his sophomore album, Electric Light, which will be released next Friday, May 18th.

On “Slide” and its music video Bay said: “Slide was the last song written for the new album and it felt like a natural closer. Although it’s tone is sad and heavy, it’s essentially about connection – a theme which, with hindsight, this album is really hinged on – and hope, despite the fact it doesn’t always work out. I guess it goes back to the nature of why I love songwriting – because a song promises the possibility of connection with other people – so we chase those flashes of creativity even when they sometimes lead us astray.”

The music video can be found at the top of this post, and features James Bay performing live in a stripped down recording session. This intimate performance accompanies an already emotional song for listeners. To add to the experience, the outdo of the video features a reading of one of Bay’s favorite Allen Ginsberg poems, “Song,” which is read by musician David Ryan Harris.

James Bay has extensive touring plans lined up beginning later this month, and even will be returning to the Ellen show on May 16th. You can pre-order Electric Light here, and get automatic downloads of “Slide” as well as previously released “Us,” “Pink Lemonade,” and “Wild Love.”
