MIGHTY is sold as the brainchild of “Pittsburgh-born slacker Angelo Fiaretti” and that introduction lulls you into falsely expecting to hear the kind of delicate, albeit, beautiful lo-fi pop of acts like Coma Cinema and Bellows only to throw you headfirst into the mouth of one of the most unexpectedly powerful records of the year.

The music video (directed by Charlie Wilson, seen above) for lead single “Safe and Sound” was shared via Gold Flake Paint earlier today and gives listeners a taste of what they can expect from the band’s forthcoming self-titled album. The vocals walk a fine line between forced restraint and emotionally unkempt catharsis; twangy vocals give way to harrowing and guttural screams that bounce off the Americana-tinged organ swells and ferocious riffs that paints a gaunt portrait of modern life in America.

MIGHTY is out May 18th via songintheair and can be pre-ordered here. More info on the record can be found below.
