When I reviewed Jordan Rakei‘s album Wallflower last October, one of the aspects I praised the most was the versatility of Rakei’s musical talent. That still holds true, and it turns out musical ability isn’t the only talent Rakei has in his repertoire. Rakei just released a music video for Wallflower‘s opening track “Eye To Eye,” and he’s a pretty great actor, as well.

The video begins with Rakei crawling out of the sea, and he looks a little worse for wear. That might have something to do with the dead body he’s dragging behind him. The video then follows Rakei as he hides the body and deals with the mental consequences of his actions. The emotional performance and subtle moments in the video are superb, and lead me to believe Rakei should spend more time in front of the camera.

When asked about the performance, the video’s director Tom Ewbank said in a press release, “This was the first bit of acting that Jordan had done and I was initially concerned that we may struggle to transform one of the nicest and most considerate people I know into a psychopath. I’m not sure what Jordan’s performance says about him as a person but his portrayal is very convincing and at times terrifying. I’ve always enjoyed working with Jordan and I feel very fortunate to have worked with him on this project, hopefully his fans enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed making it.”

You can watch Jordan Rakei’s video for “Eye To Eye” above. The video accompanies “Eye To Eye”‘s official release as a single, and said single comes with a new remix of the song from Dan Kye. You can stream or purchase the single through a variety of channels right here.
