To say SZA has had a massive 2017 would be an understatement. Now, she is closing out the year with a stunning video for “The Weekend.”
While “The Weekend” is a slower track on her debut album, CTRL, that is sung from the perspective of a “side chick,” the video is maybe not what you would expect. What you get is a visually stunning video that shows SZA dancing all alone in a parking garage, balcony, and empty warehouses.
Like we said, SZA has had a massive 2017. She released her debut album – CTRL – in June via RCA Records, sung on Maroon 5’s “What Lovers Do,” and was even featured on a remix (alongside Post Malone and Khalid) of Lorde’s “Homemade Dynamite.”
On December 22nd, she also wrapped up her very first headlining tour, dubbed the “Ctrl the Tour.” This came after she also spent some time on the road supporting Bryson Tiller on his European tour.
Not only did SZA’s Ctrl debut at #3 on the Billboard 200, but it has been certified Gold by the RIAA — as well as two singles, “Love Galore” and “The Weekend.”
She also recently received 5 grammy nominations this year; Artist of the Year, Best Urban Contemporary Album for Ctrl, Best R&B performance for “The Weekend,” Best R&B song for “Supermodel,” and Best Rap/Sung Performance for “Love Galore.”
