It’s been nearly three years since Charli XCX released her last full-length album, Sucker, but she’s certainly kept busy. She’s hit the road hard for multiple headlining tours, a co-headlining tour with Bleachers, the Jingle Ball Tour in 2014, and support slots with Katy Perry, Halsey, and Sia. In 2016 released the extended play Vroom Vroom, and just nine months after the March 2017 release of the mixtape Number 1 Angel, she’s announced that she’ll be releasing another mixtape, Pop 2, on December 15 via Atlantic Records.
Along with the mixtape announcement, Charli XCX has shared a brand new song, “Out Of My Head.” The song features Tove Lo and Finnish singer-songwriter Alma, and sees Charli continue her reign as the queen of indie-pop dance anthems. The three vocalists’ voices blend seamlessly as they take turns telling tales of parties and alcohols and how they wish an ex-lover would just “get out of my head”. If you’ve enjoyed tracks like “Boys” or “3AM”, we think you’ll love this one.
Pop 2 will also include appearances from Carly Rae Jepsen, CupcakKe, Kim Petras, and more. The mixtape is available for pre-order here. We’ll keep you updated on all things Charli XCX as the album approaches, so follow Substream on Twitter to make sure you never miss a headline.
