Sometimes you have a game plan completely ready to go. You’re dressed to the nines, you’re feeling good, and you know your night is going to go spectacularly. And then your whole plan goes to hell. It can be tough to deal with, especially when you can’t stop imagining how the night “should” have gone. Fickle Friends know your pain, as evidenced by their new video for the recently released, insecurity-laced pop banger “Hard To Be Myself.”
The music video is made up of three primary parts. The first one is pretty simple, just performance footage of Fickle Friends playing the song. The other two are a little more complex. The video’s protagonist arrives to a house party, but the screen is divided in half. On the left is “Expectation,” and on the right is “Reality.” From there the night takes wildly divergent paths on each side of the screen, with different antics mixed in with common themes on both sides.
“Hard To Be Myself” is a video that you should watch more than once to soak in the full effect, and you can watch it however many times you want to up above. It’s been a big year for Fickle Friends, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in the future.
