Run The Jewels to open Lorde’s 2018 North American tour

Following a sold out UK launch last week Lorde has tapped Run The Jewels as direct support for her 2018 US tour dates.

Here’s an announcement no one could have predicted. Lorde has announced hip-hop duo Run The Jewels as direct support for the North American leg of her Melodrama world tour. The news was made public with a press release distributed Wednesday morning, October 4.

This is a pretty crazy announcement. Not only because Run The Jewels seem to exist in an arena of music that could not be further from that of Lorde, but also because the duo has been doing incredibly well on their own as of late. Lorde may have arenas, but RTJ can sell out pretty much any midsize venue in the nation. This opportunity could launch them into the stratosphere of popular music, but at the very least it will provide a lot of great people watching as parents with young children are exposed to lyrics like this:
