Earlier this summer, internet sensation Jacob Sartorius brought us his collaboration with Blackbear, “Hit Me Back.” Just a few days after his 15th birthday earlier this month, he released his sophomore EP Left Me Hangin’ and if you enjoy simple pop love songs, you need this EP in your life.

Following his rise to fame on Vine and Musical.ly, Sartorius released his first official single “Sweatshirt” in May 2016; the song was later included on his debut EP, The Last Text, which was released in January 2017. On “Sweatshirt”, Sartorius promises the object of his affections that if she isn’t ready for his kiss, he will give her his sweatshirt to keep her warm. Left Me Hangin follows much of the same formula – innocent without being sickeningly sweet- though it sees him getting a little more honest about his emotions. Most of these emotions center around relationships and breakups (on “Skateboard” he rides his skateboard “sun up until sun down / Trying not to think about you”), and while Sartorius is still not old enough to drive a car, he approaches these subjects in a way that listeners of any age could relate to.
