Puerto Rico is hurting right now. Hurricane Maria devastated the island, and recovery efforts will take years. The people there need help. Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda is doing his part. His new song “Almost Like Praying” is an anthem for all the people of Puerto Rico, and proceeds from the song are going towards hurricane relief. Miranda also brought some friends along for the song.
All 22 of the performers on the uplifting track are Latinx, and many of them hail from Puerto Rico. You can see for yourself in the song’s video, which follows the song’s recording process inter-spliced with footage of Puerto Rico. This lineup of talent is truly incredible. Jennifer Lopez, Camila Cabello, Luis Fonsi, John Leguizamo, and Gloria Estefan are just a few of the names that appear alongside Miranda.
All proceeds from “Almost Like Praying” will go to The Hispanic Federation’s Unidos Disaster Relief Fund to directly benefit Puerto Rico in their recovery.
