Today is a good day to be alive. After spending the last year working themselves to death in support of their beloved EP Lost Along The Way the members of Chicago pop-punk outfit Sleep On It have announced their debut album. Overexposed will be released November 3 through Equal Vision Records, and the first single “Distant” can be heard at the top of this page.

Starting with the single, “Distant” provides Sleep On It fans all they need to know the band hasn’t lost a step. The driving track offers the latest chapter in the band’s adventures through life and business wrapped in a quickly memorable, impossible to resist hook. The transparency found in the group’s lyrics have allowed them to forge a deep connection with even the most distracted listeners, and here they prove that talent for honesty is only getting better in time. Fans of Sleep On It look forward to new music the same Game of Thrones fans look forward to the next episode of their favorite show, only Sleep On It fans know their beloved thing will never disappoint.

Speaking about the creation of their debut album, as well as their decision to make “Distant” the lead single from it, Sleep On It commented:

“We started writing Overexposed before our last EP was released. We wanted to write a cohesive record that ebbed and flowed; we wanted it to tell a story. There’s a level of inherent fear and anxiety that accompanies the pursuit of whatever fills us with passion. We sacrifice the refuge of convention and make ourselves vulnerable in the process. We let go of and grew apart from, people in our lives for one reason or another. We also learned to hold on to the ones worth fighting for. “Distant” deals with that fear and anxiety of letting anyone close to us, while learning how to trust through our own self-aware vulnerability.”
