Chances are that no matter what your age, you’re aware of Gilbert Gottfried. Whether it’s as the voice of Iago in Aladdin or his prolific career as a standup comedian, Gottfried has been in the public eye for decades now. While everyone knows his career, fewer know the person he is when he’s not performing. That’s about to change with the upcoming documentary Gilbert, which just received a new trailer.
The trailer features footage of Gottfried’s standup mixed with talking heads from some of the biggest names in comedy. Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Burr, Lewis Black, and Jim Gaffigan are just a few of the faces that appear. The trailer also shows clips from his family as more is revealed of Gottfried off the stage. He travels by public bus, he shares time with his family, and the disapproval from his father when he began his career clearly still affects him.
You can watch the latest trailer below, courtesy of EW. Gilbert is set for a limited release on November 3. If you’re on the fence about seeing the film, our very own James Shotwell adored the film in his review.
