We’ve quickly fallen in love with New Zealand band Yumi Zouma over the last month as they build up to the October release of their new album, Willowbank. At the beginning of the month they shared “December,” and a couple weeks later shared album opener “Depths (Pt.1).” As if like clockwork, it’s two weeks later and we have a third release from the band in the last month in the form of new track “Persephone.”

Named after the Greek queen of the underworld, the track lays the synths on thicker than the first two releases from the group. Vocalist Christie Simpson proves that she can navigate her way around a pop song, with on-point harmonies and several nice vocal flourishes during the chorus.

“Persephone” is streaming now. Willowbank will be released on October 6 through Cascine.
