In December Warner Bros. Pictures teased us with some footage from Blade Runner 2049 the sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 masterpiece. That trailer only gave us a brief glimpse at the world and at the meeting between Ryan Gosling’s Office K and Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard. Today a proper trailer dropped for the movie, and it’s a doozy.
If nothing else, Blade Runner 2049 is going to be an absolutely gorgeous film. The direction of Denis Villeneuve combined with the cinematography of the legendary Roger Deakins has already proven itself a winning combination in Sicario and Prisoners, and it shows in this trailer as well. If you’ve got a smart TV or a similar large screen, we suggest you watch the trailer on that to fully appreciate the beauty in the trailer. Storywise, it seems K and Deckard will have to team up against Jared Leto’s character, a very creepy replicant who seems to serve as their current creator and leader.
Blade Runner 2049 heads to theaters on October 6. We think that’s just enough time to create hundreds of theories on who is and isn’t a replicant.
