With all the new bands cropping up these days it’s easy to understand how one could find the task of digging through releases from unknown talent to be quite a chore. There is more music than ever before, but that does not necessarily mean there is more good music. In fact, we often think the opposite may be true, which is why feel it is important to highlight groups like Atlantic Wasteland when they come along.

Atlantic Wasteland is an Alternative Rock duo from the East Coast. The band consists of Sam Quatrini & Ausinette Rodriguez, two friends who share a love of 00s Pop-Punk music, dogs & Mexican food. Their music offers a unique twist on pop-influence corner of their genre, which we have found to be incredibly infectious. We honestly cannot get enough of the band’s recently released Cities EP, and our favorite track, “Durango,” just recently received an official video:

We asked Sam Quartrini to tell us about the inspiration for the band’s latest work:

”Sonically & lyrically, the EP is an emotional rollercoaster. I wrote a few upbeat songs like “Durango” & “Hesperus,” but also a few emotionally taxing ones such as “Pittsburgh” & “Meadville.” This was very much intentional – I wanted the music to portray the juxtaposition between extreme joy and life-altering anxiety.

Whether we’d like to admit it or not, that’s just how life is sometimes. It’s not always happy, it’s not always cut & dry, and yet it’s not always sad. We go through cycles, phases, whatever you want to call it. Our experiences shape us into the people we were created to be. We should wear those experiences proudly instead of trying to hide or repress them.

You can find the Cities EP wherever you buy music online. We expect big things from Atlantic Wasteland in the years to come, so make sure you follow the band on Facebook so you never miss another update.
